Momentum Board of Advisors for Clergywomen
Female clergy members across faiths and denominations face unique challenges simply by being a woman in your role.
Your m.b.a. membership provides you an opportunity to interact with peers who understand your unique challenges and know what it is like to walk in your shoes. A professional facilitator manages the meeting ensuring your board is focused on the issues important to you. The m.b.a. is not a typical support group. Your board’s focus is on learning from each other in a manner that is relevant to the lives you lead. Topics may include staff supervision, personal support, long range planning, program development, problem solving, financial savvy or negotiation skills.
Each meeting, members present an issue and the other clergy members use their combined knowledge, experience and perspectives to help address a need, solve a problem, brainstorm an idea, unravel a complex situation or provide support to address a troublesome burden or nagging concern. Time is allotted for spiritual growth and fellowship amongst members – each bringing her particular sense of call to the board.
How Does it Work?
- Forums of 10 women clergy members meet every other month for a professionally facilitated peer advisory board meeting (6 meetings per year)
- Meetings are held from 9:00am – 1:00pm and include lunch
- One on one meetings are held prior to each board meeting with the presenters to prepare them for the meeting so they can receive optimal feedback
- All members participate in a bi-monthly conference call with your m.b.a. to focus on accountability, updates between meetings and quick feedback and advice
- Members represent clergy from many faiths and denominations
- Confidentiality is paramount
- Membership commitment is one year and your attendance is required by covenant
